A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Chaos Frame is a first-person dungeon crawler RPG based on Dan and Mab's Furry Adventures, in which you join Dan, Mab, and their many other friends in exploring a bizarre locale with connections to places throughout Furrae. Along the way, you'll battle against monsters, find equipment, level up, and discover the power of friendship.

The version of the game available here is a demo, featuring the first dungeon floor out of five total. There are 8 playable characters, about an hour's worth of gameplay, and at least a few jokes.

The game runs on Windows and Mac natively, and can run on Linux via Proton or the browser version.

Before you play, make sure to check the Readme for instructions and answers to a handful of questions related to the game, and if you're interested, read the Foreword to hear why I made the game in the first place.

Current issues:

  • In general, expect content to be somewhat rough around the edges. For example, I intend to edit and expand many of the recruitment scenes in the future, and to replace a number of assets as the opportunity arises.
  • When you save while preparing for a boss fight and then reload, the boss fight will begin immediately rather than returning you to preparations. There's no easy fix for this, so I'm thinking of workarounds.
  • The browser version is not currently playable on itch.io. I'm planning on making this possible, so if you can't run the game through any other means, check back every now and then to see if you can run it right here.
  • Music and image files are not encrypted. I'd really prefer to be able to encrypt them, as a courtesy, but it doesn't play nicely with the code that displays the game world in first person. This might be resolved in the future.

If you have any feedback, I’d love to hear from you. I can be reached via Discord (niirurenkachou), email (lordalbireon @ gmail), or the comments on this page.

I'll have to try this later today when I get a chance. I've read DMFA for a very long time since Merwitz was relevant.

I've been reading DMFA since 2007. This looks like an incredible tribute to the comic, I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Much appreciated! I don't expect to complete it in a short timespan -- making new playable characters takes the longest along with the 3D maps, and there's a lot of them -- but I'm happy to see interest.

Games in general are extremely time-consuming to make, I'm not surprised to hear it's taking a while. Regardless of how long it takes, I can't wait to see how it turns out!

I've been reading DMFA for over 20 years, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how this turns out. A game based on a comic based on a game...

Thank you very much! If you play the demo at all, I'd love to hear your feedback.
